Your Questions, Answered

  • Functional medicine is a personalized approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of symptoms or illness. It takes into account your unique genetics, lifestyle, and environment to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. Rather than just managing symptoms, functional medicine aims to restore balance and promote long-term health, working in partnership with you to support your healing journey.

  • Functional medicine differs from conventional medicine in that it focuses on finding and addressing the root causes of health issues, rather than just treating symptoms. While conventional medicine typically diagnoses and manages symptoms, functional medicine takes a holistic approach that looks at the whole person—considering factors like genetics, lifestyle, and environment. It also emphasizes prevention and overall wellness, aiming to avoid illness before it starts, rather than reacting once disease has developed.

  • Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a natural, personalized approach to restoring hormonal balance using hormones that are identical to those your body produces. Unlike standardized treatments that apply the same solution to everyone, Wildfire Wellness takes a comprehensive, holistic approach to your health, ensuring that BHRT is carefully considered as part of a tailored treatment plan designed specifically for you.

Our expert practitioner, Kathryn Farrell, leverages her extensive training in Functional Medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine, advanced expertise in BHRT, and Masters-level nutrition training to conduct a thorough evaluation of your health. This in-depth process explores your symptoms, lifestyle, nutrition, and overall wellness to address the root causes of hormonal imbalances—such as fatigue, mood swings, or low energy. At Wildfire Wellness, BHRT is not a default solution but one of many tools we may use to help you thrive, depending on what’s best for your unique needs.

If BHRT is part of your treatment plan, we work closely together for 6 months to monitor progress, adjust as needed, and ensure optimal results before transitioning to a maintenance plan. This collaborative approach guarantees that your journey to hormonal balance is supported every step of the way.

    • Holistic Evaluation: We dive deep into your health—nutrition, stress, sleep, and more—to create a plan that’s uniquely yours.

    • Personalized Care: If BHRT is recommended, it’s customized to your hormone profile for safe, effective results.

    • Close Partnership: For those starting BHRT, we provide dedicated support over the first 6 months to fine-tune your treatment and achieve lasting vitality.

    • Beyond Hormones: Our focus is on empowering you to feel vibrant and balanced through lifestyle and functional medicine solutions, with or without BHRT.

    • Functional medicine is not covered by insurance because it focuses on personalized, in-depth care that includes extensive testing and longer consultations. Most insurance plans cover symptom-based treatments but don’t typically support the root cause approach used in functional medicine, which includes lifestyle changes and long-term wellness strategies. By not accepting insurance, we can spend more time with you and create a treatment plan that’s truly tailored to your needs, without restrictions.

    • We will provide you with a Superbill following your visit that you can use to request reimbursement from your insurance provider.  Each insurance company is different so we recommend you outreach them before your visit if you are looking to have a portion of the visit reimbursed.

    • While we do not accept insurance, we do accept HSA/FSA, debit, credit, bitcoin, and cash payments

  • We are currently a telehealth only practice located in South Jersey seeing patients in NJ and CT. We are looking to expand to PA and FL in the near future.

  • Your first visit will be an in-depth virtual consultation where we will review your health history, current symptoms, and identify potential root causes. We may recommend further diagnostic evaluation and begin creating a personalized treatment plan together which can include nutritional recommendations and other lifestyle interventions to start.

  • Before your first visit, complete all intake forms provided through your Power2Patient portal. Ensure that you have access to a private, quiet space with strong internet connection to complete your virtual visit.

  • For streamlined and secure communication, we ask that all communication with your provider go through the Power2Patient portal where you will also see office notes, lab results, and receipts for insurance reimbursement.

  • We require a 48 hour notice for all patient appointment cancellations/reschedules.

  • No, Wildfire Wellness does not serve as a primary care provider (PCP). As a functional medicine provider, we specialize in addressing the root causes of health concerns through a holistic, personalized approach. Our focus is on optimizing your wellness through in-depth evaluations, specialized treatments like BHRT (when appropriate), and tailored lifestyle and nutrition plans. We work collaboratively with you to enhance your health, but we strongly recommend maintaining a relationship with a primary care provider for routine medical care, screenings, and acute health needs. Together, we complement your PCP’s care to help you achieve vibrant, lasting wellness.

“Healing begins when you feel seen, heard, and empowered to rewrite your story.”
